Post 9: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME
Nowadays, i'm studying Public Administration in Universidad de Chile. In this post, i will propose some changes to the study programme of this carreer.
To start, i will talk about the curriculum. I would change the name of the most of the subjects, because they are unnecessary long. Beside, i would like to take out the requeriment of doing at least 2 free subjects and 2 CFG, because having this extra workload doesn't help at all to have a better performance in our main subjects, and also is very hard to have a good schedule with this kind of subjects.
About lenght of studies, i can't talk too much because i don't have the capacity of knowing if it is too much or not. I think that 5 years is excesive, but who knows, maybe it's necessary to have that lenght (i know about another countries where the pregrade studies takes just 4 years to complete).
I think we have problems in terms of faculty facilities. The library is too small and sometimes there's no space to be there, so you are obligated to study in the hall with all the noise. Also, the dining room is very small and hot, so it's impossible to be confortable there. The faculty itself is very small, so i think that the only solution is to move out to another building (as i know, it will happen in a few years).
About the technology, the only thing that i would change is the amount of impression we have as students. We are in a humanist career, and because of that we have to read a lot, and 300 impressions per semester are not enough.
Finally, about teaching methods, i think that it depends of each teacher. Every teacher u
se his own method, and i don't know if it's good to establish one teaching method for all the teachers and subjects. I would agree in having some main ideas about what to do in classes. For example, to promote student's participation in classes, to respect the deadlines, etc.
I'm very happy with this career, but i think that some changes are necessary.

im agree with you about the free subjects and CFGs because they collapse our schedules!
ResponderEliminarI think I agree with all the infrastructure problem but I think thar in my opinion CFG'S are ok, you have to choose a good one and you will have a great time talking with students of other careers :)
ResponderEliminarThe library is so small and it is so full in time of exams, there is no place to study
